A Study on the Electrochemical Deoxidation Using ZrO2 Based Solid Electrolyte and a Periodic DC Voltage

An electrochemical deoxidation using a ZrO₂ based solid electrolyte was investigated to control the interfacial oxygen concentration between the molten steel and ZrO₂. The electrochemical deoxidation cell consisted of an MgO stabilized ZrO₂ and an external power supply. In a previous study with constant external DC voltage, the oxygen concentration at the interface between the solid electrolyte and the molten steel was decreased to 2.2 ppm, which was the limit caused by the cathodic over‐potential when a constant external DC voltage was applied. In the present study, a novel process of using a periodic or cyclic voltage for the electrochemical deoxidation cell was developed, to surpass this limitation caused by the over‐optential of the electrochemical cell and thus decreasing the oxygen concentration to sub‐ppm levels at the interface between the molten Fe and the solid electrolyte.

The mental health of men with a psychiatric disorder or traumatic brain injury: Wives' labeling and husbands' perceived control.

Objective: To investigate the relations among wives' labeling of their husbands' psychiatric disorder or brain injury as an organic illness, the husbands' perceived control over their disabilities, and the husbands' mental health. Participants: 57 male clients of the Department of Rehabilitation, Israel's Ministry of Defence (26 with a psychiatric disorder and 31 with a traumatic brain injury) and their wives. Measures: Illness Labeling Questionnaire, the Perceived Control Over Illness Questionnaire, and the Mental Health Inventory. Results: Husbands' mental health was low but did not differ according to disability; wives' labeling of husbands' condition was negatively related to the husbands' mental health; husbands' perceived control was positively related to their mental health for both disabilities. Conclusion: Organic illness labels, even when adopted by the wives of the persons with the disability, seem to be negatively related to that person's mental health, whereas perceived control over a mental disorder or a brain injury seems to contribute positively to mental health, independently of how the disorder or injury is labeled. Effect of the angle of attack on the wind convection coefficient

In this study the effect of the positive angle of attack (angle between flat plate surface and incoming uniform flow) on the convective heat transfer coefficient was investigated numerically. In the case of inviscid flow, this effect was also presented analytically and was found to be in good agreement with the corresponding numerical results. From the obtained numerical data, an accurate correlation equation of Nusselt number was proposed by introducing the effect of the angle of attack in terms of a new factor A_f. The variation of the convective heat transfer coefficient as a function of the angle of attack was found not behaves in the same manner for both small and large values of Prandtl number at small angles of attack.
